Grade 3 and 4 Coordinator

Dear Parent/s,

As the 2020 Year 3 and 4 Coordinator, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the students and their families this year. We trust that your child’s education at Sirius College will be a memorable and successful one.

Over the years, the role of a school and that of a teacher has evolved and changed. We no longer wish to only pursue academic excellence. Rather, we endeavour to empower our students to be lifelong learners and autonomous individuals. We aim to provide a safe and supportive environment to meet all the developmental areas for all our students. We provide a carefully planned and structured environment with a variety of learning tools to best ensure each child grows and learns their way.

We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. Therefore, I am looking forward to developing strong relationships with parents and furthering my rapport with students to ensure, as a trinity, we work together to help each child achieve their highest potential. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and I want you to know that, as a school, we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

  1. Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
  2. Completes all homework assignments given by teachers including Reading Eggs and Mathletics online tasks.
  3. Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve English skills
  4. Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
  5. Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject

Please find below important reminders for you and your child.

Healthy Lunchboxes

A healthy mind is a healthy body! Good nutrition is essential. Please ensure that your child has fruit and/or vegetables, sandwich and a healthy snack. Please ensure you supply fresh fruit/veggies and a bottle of water along with your child’s lunch. We would like to minimise junk, processed and pre-packaged foods. Soft drinks, lollies and chocolates are not welcome in our classrooms. We ask that parents are aware of allergies and avoid sending nut or nut related foods, including nutella.

No Hat, Shade Play

Please remember that we are a Sunsmart school and ALL students must wear their hats during Term 1 and Term 4. We encourage all families to apply some sunscreen before school.

If you have questions or concerns that arise at any time, please do not hesitate to give the school a call to arrange a time to discuss these with your child’s teacher or me. Alternatively, correspondence with the teacher(s) or myself via SEQTA message is encouraged and welcomed to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this the best year yet! I look forward to having a long and rewarding relationship with you and your family.

Kind Regards,
Mr Jay Pitto
Year 3 and 4 Coordinator
